Vatzi

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Special abilities

Twilight magic, Dark magic, and a very small amount of Light magic/manipulation

Apparel & Accessories

Vatzi tries his best to dress up as much as he can, but sometimes his pocket can't keep up with his sense of style.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Vatzi was born in the paradoxical class of the Servants of the Palace of Twilight- twilli who serve the current ruler of the Twilight, but are also possible candidates for becoming the rulers, themselves. He and his younger sister, Itza, served the previous Queen side by side, and became quite close to her quite naturally. Although they didn't allow themselves to think about it all too often, sometimes the two of them would fantasize about what they'd do if one day, they were chosen to be the next ruler. They promised that even if the other one was chosen, they'd still be each other's right hand man.   Vatzi and Itza were brought up by their loving, well-meaning parents who had been passed up for ruler in the previous generation. They heard stories from them about how the Twili came to be, how the Interlopers had tried to steal the Triforce for themselves, how they were banished, and how the Usurper King Zant had attempted to steal away the Light so that the Twili could go back to Hyrule, their home land. Vatzi and Itza both had different interpretations of those stories: Vatzi fantasized about going back to the Light Realm one day, leading his people back to their home land as King of the Twilight, while Itza took a more humble approach, quietly thinking about how she would make peace with the Hylians and share their lands.   Vatzi remained outspoken about his beliefs through the years, continuing to plan and fantasize about his future reign. He studied history, finding out how Zant had blotted out the light, and how the Hero of Twilight (he scoffed at the name) had restored it. He learned the magical properties and relationships between the Light and the Twilight, learning how to manipulate them, learning their strengths and weaknesses. He learned all that he could about the Light Spirits, though the Twilight archives had little knowledge of them.   Over time, he became very clever, and very powerful. His secluded studies had distanced him somewhat from his sister, though she never strayed far from his side. The pair still had their moments of harmony, carrying out their duties together like a well-oiled machine, sharing inside jokes with mere glances, and cheering each other up whenever the hours dragged on. In fact, their relationship seemed to grow stronger than ever with the eventual death of their parents, consoling each other and assuring the other that they were at peace.   Then, the day came for the Queen to choose her heir. Vatzi had greeted that day with confidence, and Itza with a gentle meekness as she stood beside her brother. But as the crown fell to Itza, Vatzi's mind became more dark and clouded than ever before. Not wanting to break his promise to stay by his sister's side, he begrudgingly honored his sister and her new role as Queen of the Twilight. Itza, knowing her brother's ambition, appointed him as her adviser, though she kept his ideas at arms' length and made sure to fill her court with other opinions, as well.   Vatzi keep this frustrations at bay for as long as he could for his sister's sake, but over time, his ambitions started to manifest in subconscious, unpredictable ways. He became overly irritable, and openly scoffed at the idea of making peace with the Hylians. He suggested creating strict laws surrounding entry into the Light Realm, and showed open suspicion of any visitors who came to the Twilight. His actions brought much criticism down on Itza, who tried her best to stand up for him while not betraying her people.   But then one day, it all became too much. Vatzi snapped, physically striking a visiting Hylian noblewoman when he was unable to contain his temper any longer. Despite pleading with his sister to have mercy on him, that the noblewoman had insulted everything that the Twilight Realm stood for, that she had deserved it, Itza was forced to remove him from the Palace, despite most of her court insisting that he be banished from the Twilight Realm altogether.   Although he was still allowed to live in the city surrounding the Palace, that did not mean that the citizens were happy with him being there. He had been less than popular in the political world, and it showed through the treatment he received following his exile. This caused him to sink deeper into seclusion, deeper into his studies, deeper into his plotting to retake the Light, despite the fact that he no longer had any royal resources or blessings.   While studying even further, he found other like-minded Twili: The Hands of Zant. They eagerly accepted him as one of their own, and he quickly proved himself worthy of leadership within their organization, turning the Hands from no more than radical whispers in the shadows to an actual underground clan of sorts.
