The Black Robes

Every wizard's tower anywhere is aimed at free study and research of all arcane knowledge and lore. As a type of university, such arcane towers are unaligned and do not close their doors to any type of magic. The head of any tower is chosen democratically by all mages present and can be of any school or alignment. He or she is simply expected to rule affairs according to the main goal of furthering knowledge and skill in magic.   However, the three possible alignments, good, neutral and evil, have formed their own chapters in the arcane organization, since their goals may clash with those of other alignments and there is a certain measure of necessity to organize one's own goals apart from the general rule of any tower. The different alignments are distinguished by color, white, red and black respectively.   The Black Robes, being the chapter for evil aligned magic users, is the only one to delve into the illegal arts of black magic. They make pacts with evil creatures, and have no qualms about stepping outside the natural order of life and death. Even though making undead creatures is a crime in just about any society, both good and neutral alignments loathing the very existence of these unnatural tortured monsters, a black robe considers such limitations to the advancement of his power and skill an unfair nuisance and would not doubt a second about using such illegal ways to progress, whenever he feels he may get away with it.   As such the Black Robes are the most secretive of the colors, as well as the most closely watched by others. Where the White Robes seek improvement of skill and knowledge as a way to combat evil and improve society, and the Red Robes seek it for maintaining the natural balance and preventing either white or black to ever gain the upper hand, the Black Robes seek only to improve their own position, power, wealth and/or influence. And anything that stands in their way must be destroyed.

Public Agenda

The Black Robes stop at nothing to further the advancement of power and knowledge in the Arcane arts. Anything or anyone that may help us to progress will be used and rewarded for their aid. Anything or anyone standing in the way of our goals will gain a powerful enemy.

    In the heart of the Dark Island lies an ancient tower. Since the moment when darkness and evil took over the island, the tower has stood empty and unused. But only recently evil magic users have taken residence here again. They seem interested in the various forms of undead that crawl all over this island.
