Old Fester

The resident mage of Good Mead, known to provide bed and breakfast to weary travelers. A plain-looking Human-like man wearing blue robes and a witchy hat, with a spiral scar around his face . Ambrose noted traits of the Feywild, but not a Half-elf. "Fester" seems to be a nickname, but "Magi" is his official title, he claims. It is strange for such an organized scholar to place himself here, in the cold north of Icewind Dale. He voted for Olvessa as Speaker of Good Mead. Supposedly, he arrived in Icewind Dale around the same time the Frostmaiden's curse began. He's told people that he's from Waterdeep and, before that, way out West (all this being South of Icewind Dale, main Faerun).

Old Fester's Hut

Old Fester's house, a two-story hut, is right on the edge where the woods meet the town. The Welcome sign is in Dwarven, Common, and Deep Speech. Strange magic radiates from inside. The inside is cozy, while being very much a Wizard's experimental study. There's a mysterious box of importance (Did Sybil unlock this?). The Snow Owl that watched us approach the town resides in his hut. His telescope is looking to the Southern mountain range rather than the stars. He has a statuette of The Frostmaiden.
Sybil perused his library to find books on:
  • The Yawning Portal of Waterdeep
  • The Netherese Empire (this book has almost all its pages missing)
  • A pamphlet of the Frostmaiden, and how to properly worship her.
  • The History of Frost Giants in Icewind Dale
QUEST: If we ever encounter an Ice Troll, he would like its heart. He might be able to grow trees, stop blizzards, etc.
