Celestial Venom

Celestial Venom is a legendary poison crafted from the rare and potent venom of the Celaduran Viper. This deadly concoction, revered for its lethality and mystical properties, combines the venom with a series of rare and magical ingredients including Essence of Nightshade, Unicorn Horn Dust, Dragon's Blood Resin, Phoenix Feather Ash, Moonlit Water, and Celestial Essence. The creation process demands exceptional skill, requiring precise nature knowledge to extract the venom, mastery of herbalism to distill nightshade essence, and arcane expertise to handle and combine magical ingredients. The final stages involve meticulous alchemical procedures to mix and infuse the components, ensuring a potent and stable poison. Housed in delicate crystal vials, Celestial Venom is a coveted and dangerous substance, capable of bringing swift and certain death, often sought after by the most skilled assassins and alchemists.

Crafting Checks in D&D:

Nature (DC 15): To identify and safely extract the venom from the Celaduran Viper.   Failure could result in injury or contamination of the venom.   Herbalism Kit (DC 15): To properly handle and distill the Essence of Nightshade.   Failure might render the essence less potent or entirely ineffective.   Arcana (DC 18): To handle and combine the magical ingredients like Unicorn Horn Dust, Phoenix Feather Ash, and Celestial Essence without losing their properties.   Failure could result in the loss of magical properties or a weaker final product.   Alchemy Tools (DC 20): To accurately distill, mix, and infuse the ingredients, ensuring the potency and safety of the final product.   Failure could cause a dangerous reaction or a completely ineffective poison.   Medicine (DC 17): To understand the toxic properties and effects of the ingredients, ensuring the mixture is both safe to handle and effective.   Failure might cause the mixture to be unstable or unsafe to use.

Description of Checks and Consequences:

Nature Check (DC 15)
Success: You safely extract the venom from the Celaduran Viper without harming yourself or contaminating the venom.   Failure: You accidentally injure yourself while extracting the venom, taking 1d6 poison damage, and contaminate the venom, making it unusable.
Herbalism Kit Check (DC 15)
Success: You successfully handle and distill the Essence of Nightshade, maintaining its potency. Failure: The distillation process fails, and the Essence of Nightshade loses its toxic properties, rendering it useless.
Arcana Check (DC 18)
Success: You adeptly handle and combine the Unicorn Horn Dust, Phoenix Feather Ash, and Celestial Essence, preserving their magical properties.   Failure: The magical properties are lost during the handling process, and the resulting mixture is significantly less potent.
Alchemy Tools Check (DC 20)
Success: You accurately distill, mix, and infuse the ingredients, creating a potent and stable batch of Celestial Venom.   Failure: A dangerous reaction occurs, causing an explosion that deals 2d6 fire damage to you and nearby creatures, and the mixture is destroyed.
Medicine Check (DC 17)
Success: You understand the toxic properties and effects of the ingredients, ensuring the mixture is safe to handle and highly effective.   Failure: The mixture becomes unstable, and the final product is either unsafe to use or significantly less effective.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Type: Injury Venom Level: 7 Potency: Highly lethal
Immediate Effects:
Neurotoxic Impact: The target must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 5d10 poison damage and is paralyzed for 1 minute. On a successful save, the target takes half damage and is not paralyzed.
Short-Term Effects:
Paralysis: If the target fails the initial saving throw, they must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw at the end of each of their turns. On a success, the paralysis ends. On a failure, the paralysis continues.
Secondary Effects:
Respiratory Failure: After 1 minute of being paralyzed, the target must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target's respiratory system begins to fail, and they start suffocating. The target can survive for a number of rounds equal to their Constitution modifier (minimum 1 round) before dropping to 0 hit points and dying if not treated.
Long-Term Effects:
Organ Damage: If the target survives the initial effects, they must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw at the end of each hour for the next 24 hours. On a failure, the target takes 2d10 poison damage and gains a level of exhaustion. On a success, the target takes half damage and does not gain a level of exhaustion.
Antivenom and Treatment:
Antivenom: A specific antivenom must be administered within 1 hour to neutralize the poison. This requires a DC 20 Medicine check to properly administer. On a success, the poison is neutralized, and the target can begin to recover. On a failure, the poison continues to affect the target.   Supportive Care: A character with proficiency in Medicine can attempt to stabilize a poisoned target with a DC 15 Medicine check, granting advantage on subsequent Constitution saving throws to resist the poison's effects.
Prognosis:
Timely Treatment: If the antivenom is administered in time and the target receives appropriate medical care, the prognosis is good, although the target may need several days of rest to recover fully.   Delayed Treatment: Without timely treatment, the poison is almost invariably fatal. Even if the target survives, they may suffer from long-term effects such as reduced Constitution (by 1 point, permanently) and persistent tremors or weakness.

Manufacturing process

Preparation: Begin by extracting the Venom of the Celaduran Viper using a specialized syringe. Carefully collect the venom and store it in a sealed container.   Grinding: Finely grind the Unicorn Horn Dust and Phoenix Feather Ash using a mortar and pestle until they are reduced to a fine powder.   Distillation: Place the Essence of Nightshade and Moonlit Water in the Alchemist's Furnace. Heat at a precise temperature to distill the liquid, separating the pure toxins.   Mixing: Combine the distilled Essence of Nightshade, Moonlit Water, Dragon's Blood Resin, and the fine powders of Unicorn Horn Dust and Phoenix Feather Ash in a mixing bowl.   Infusion: Pour the mixture into the Ethereal Infusion Chamber. Add the Celestial Essence and the extracted Celaduran Viper venom. Use the Golden Stirring Rod to ensure the components are evenly mixed and infused with the celestial energy.   Filtration: Filter the infused venom mixture through the Silver Filtration Mesh to remove any impurities.   Bottling: Carefully pour the purified Celestial Venom into the Crystal Vials, sealing them tightly to preserve the potency.
