Celle the Traveler

(a.k.a. Old Sage of the Road, Collector of Runes, The Quiet God)

The story of Celle is the story of history itself. Without him, there would be no history, as his journals told of the beginning of everything. Copies of his journals have circulated throughout the world, but only Celle holds his journal where he still records events of today with the help of Werno the Patient. Through his journal he can play with the Quintessence of Magic and cast any spell or weave an entirely new spell. Known also as The Quiet God, he does not often grant a direct answer but usually guidance to where someone can get the answers themselves. Individuals who follow in the spellcrafting techniques of Celle are called wizards, weaving magic through every source and focusing techniques. Libraries are dedicated to the Quiet God to gather and share information on a pilgrim's journey of knowledge. Many of the prominent texts for Followers of Celle are journals of individuals who have managed to meet Celle. Among his Followers are numerous sects that debate about all manner of topics include psychology, creation myths, the disappearance of the Illuna, and historical accuracy.

One might think it contradictory that the Old Sage would not confirm the truth of ones knowledge. That is failing to understand the nature of knowledge. Why would the Old Sage require a journal to record the events of history if he had every ounce of knowledge. Why would he travel the world if he knew everything about it. Because while he may be the master of all knowledge, he is not the master of all time, for that is Mother Time's domain. He is the master of his own knowledge, and the knowledge that we worshippers grant him, we help him achieve his goal. He guides us to answers and knowledge, because he does not know the truth of the time, but because you must seek out knowledge for yourself. ~Unt'rile the Keeper
