The Dragon War
While described as a war in the history books, it is largely agreed that The Dragon War was none other than absolute devastation to the area. In the year 137c, the volcano called The Red Dragon erupted. This was seen as an ill omen as the volcano had laid dormant for nearly 3,000 years. After its eruption, a large number of dragons had been reported within The Emerald Wood and the fighting began. Dragons clashed with dragons in devestating combat, the conflict did untold damage to the Wood.
Requiring decisive action Faerune Solice, head council member of the Conclave of Races mobilized a force to secure the Emerald Crown which would later be known as the City of Embers. Shortly after their arrival, the Emerald Crown was cut off from the rest of Itherion. What happened to Faerune after that is a mystery.
Around 397c(10397L) the last of the conflict had ended. The Emerald Wood had been devastated and renamed to the Dragon Scar. The region would never return to its former glory. Luckily the Tempis River would keep the boundaries of the Dragon Scar from overtaking the Tal'rafa Wilds. It remains a barrier to this day.
What remains a mystery is the origins of the war. As far as the people of Itherion were aware, the fighting broke out immediately and with no purpose. With so many dead and such a long time ago, the people may never know the cause of the war.
