The River Styx

A subset of the Astral Plane, it is a river in which the Ferryman Adul takes the souls of the dead. He also delivers Thanatos, Goddess of Death and Decay to any location she needs.   Anyone who finds themselves within the river shortly loses all memory of who they once were. One caught in the river's current risks washing up anywhere the river touches, leaving the individual wandering and with no memory. If they are lucky they find themselves in one of the Ethereal Planes where they eventually fade once forgotten. If however they end up in one of the heavens, hells, or other location they risk wandering for all of time.   To enter the ferryman's service you must offer him a coin from the living world. The quality of coin has little significance, but its symbology is meaningful. Under the employ of the ferryman are The Three Judges: Pahadron, Azreal, and Gadiel. They judge the soul of the individual using the coin. Each judge carries a scale to determine the weight of the soul in which they judge. Their votes determine the place in which the soul is to be ferried.

Pahadron

The first of the judges, Paharon judges the soul for its morality. Those who acted out of kindness and good were judged worthy to his scales. Those who caused pain and suffering were seen as unworthy. Those who lived neither or both were without judgement.

Gadiel

The second of the judges, Gadiel judges the soul for the chaos they sew. Those who sew peace and lawfulness into the world are judged worthy by his scales. Those who sew violence and chaos are seen as unworthy. Those who maintain the status quo are without judgement.

Azreal

The last of the judges, Azreal judges the soul for how it is remembered. The souls remembered fondly are judged worthy of his scales. Souls remembered coldly are judged unworthy. Those who are remembered both are without judgement.
In the end all dead are judged equally. It does not matter the coin or conquests. All that matters is the weight of one's soul. ~Azreal
