Academy of Nhyssa
The academy is the largest and most prestigious institution of arcane (and in some parts mundane) education in the entirety of the Old World. It is, without exaggeration, the greatest place of learning on the material plane.
Structure
The academy is structured like most schools of higher education, having a headmaster who oversees the entirety of the academy's operations, alongside multiple deans who are responsible for the more specific matters of the various faculties.
Said faculties mostly study the different fields of arcane magic (specializing themselves in what is commonly called "Schools"), though some take more holistic approaches (like the faculty of scripture-studies).

Culture
Seriousness and professionalism are of utmost importance for any scholars of the Academy. For this reason Nhyssan scholars rarely engage in any activities, or business outside of what might further their search for knowledge.
Public Agenda
The Academy devotes itself fully to the search for, safeguarding and utilization of knowledge. It is through knowledge that the lives of mortals can be bettered.
Assets
Being the oldest and most prestigious place of learning in the Old World has helped the Academy gain a position of financial and political power on the long-known continents. The treasury of Nhyssa is said to be vast enough to belong to any middling nation and this only includes the material wealth of the school. It is difficult to quantify exactly how much value all that is in the possession of the Academy is worth, but it is no secret that most scholars and appraisers would call large parts of the Academy's inventory invaluable.
History
Founded in the year 25 of the Mede Era, the Nhyssa started out as a small, specialized school for the arcane arts, founded by Emperor Arteras Mede II. Through tireless effort, shrewd business-practices and plenty of funding from the Empire (and later on other nations as well) the Academy has grown to its current size and status.
