Beshar, the Gentle Warden

Beshar, the Gentle Warden, the god at the threshold between the realm of the living and the realms of the dead. Beshar is an intriguing case. Most see them (commonly referred to as male, though that has never been confirmed by any definitive authority) as the executioner, instead of the judge that he actually is (at least according to his faithful and some ancient accounts). Beshar, as I have been told, is the one judging the souls of mortals and sends them on the right pay towards their life after death. He presides over the gate of souls and keeps watch over the order of life and death. Should a soul stray from the path, he will correct it and if a soul tries to escape, he prevents it from doing so.   The only time when Beshar truly takes on the role of an executioner is when he deals with those who resist the order of life and death, by resisting once their time has come, or when they defy order by choosing undeath. In this pursuit he is as cold and merciless as he is compassionate with those whose time has not yet come.

Artifacts

There is no known artifacts of Beshar, though some say that ages ago the Warden gave away pieces of his ledger to those who served him admirably, granting them some of his power and authority.

Holy Books & Codes

Beshar has no holy texts, or codes.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Beshar has two holy symbols, which each denote a different part of his duty. One is an open book, on which an open gate stands. Whilst the other is a tower shield with a closed gate painted or engraved onto it.

Tenets of Faith

The primary tenet of belief in Beshar is to "trust the Gentle Warden." People are asked to not evade death, once their time has come and to trust that Beshar has seen to things. Many find this strange and unsettling, but Beshar's faithful (few as they are) always reassure those with doubts, alledging that the god of death is just and kind and ensures that those who trust him do not die with regrets.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Beshar is dedicated to uphold the order of life and death. He stands against (almost) all forms of undeath and seeks to ferry all the "lost souls" into the afterlife.
