Greenskin War
A conflict between many of the nations in the Old World and a coalition of the majority of all orc tribes (also known as “the Horde”), in which orcs and half orcs rebelled against their oppression in many nations. Against the rebellious orcs stood many smaller and medium-sized nations, all of which had previously enslaved orcs and half orcs.
The war lasted nearly 15 years and spanned many areas of the
Old World. The Empire of Stanver and the Nemosian Free States were not initially involved, as they had already recognized orcs as as full citizens and were therefore not considered a target for the rebels.
In 36 Ard. the two great powers formed an alliance (something thought impossible by many residents of the
Old World), the task of which was to establish peace and bring justice. The great powers divided the fronts between themselves and whilst the Free States ensured that the involved nations ceased their crimes against the orcs, the Empire's army contained the orcs and eliminated their more radical and bloodthirsty elements. This ensured that the conflict could be ended without having to completely destroy either side.
The Conflict
Prelude
Multiple minor uprisings in the nations, which treated orcs the worst, which gradually increased in frequency and intensity and eventually spread to more and more nations.
Battlefield
Many varied battlefields across the Old World.
The Engagement
Most engagements were small-scale skirmishes, or raids by small orc-warbands. Only a few large-scale battles took place, all of which the orcs had to be forced into (despite their numerical advantage the orcs prefered guerilla tactics, interestingly enough).
Outcome
Freedom for orcs and
half orcs.
Aftermath
Resentment from the slaver-nations towards the orcs (whilst still despicable, somewhat understandable due to the economic losses and wide-spread destruction).
