Ayla Lionclaw

What the Silver Vanguard Know: Ayla was originally from Brakar. She escaped by sneaking on a ship and hiding in a crate for 6 days. Just before they reached North Delisvista she hijacked a row boat and went south. She made it to South Delivista. Unknown... unknown... She made her way to Rabanastre where her skill in firearms became noticed. She began working as a gunner on airships, eventually making it to be a Master Gunner after the war.

What Shabby Knows: Ayla Lionclaw grew up in the slums of Brakar. Her mother who could no longer take care of her had given her up to an orphanage. The orphanages were already overcrowded but there were so few built, there was no other choice. She was a small child and often got picked on or beat up for her size. So she quickly learned how to be scrappy and resourceful with defending herself, or at least getting away. As she got older she used this resourcefulness for better things. At just 11 years old she devised a plan to steal a good amount of food from the Kings supply single handedly and it worked. The spy network know as the Silent Mercy, the underbelly and thieves guild in Brakar, quickly found her and brought her to Remington "The Savior" Delarosa - Remi. He took her in and trained her to be part of the Dirty Fingers a small group of children who are taught to steal expertly and be the eyes and ears of the city. She believed that being a part of this group, she could change Brakar for the better. It was with this passion and drive that she stayed for seven years. But as she grew older she realized that nothing she ever tried to do in Brakar was going to really change it. When Remi gave her the choice to choose the next branch of the organization, she told him she didn't want it. That she couldn't do this anymore and wanted to get out of Brakar. Reluctantly, he helped her escape in a crate on a ship. And she said goodbye to Brakar forever.

She stayed in the crate for six days and then hijacked a rowboat heading south. She made it to South Delivista , free, or so she thought. Little did she know there are constant skirmishes on the Delisvista border and she landed right in the middle of it. She was taken by North Delisvistian brutes and then quickly rescued by a squad of South Delisvistians who called themselves The Thunder, due to their use of firearms in combat. Many of them were of races she had ever seen before. They said that they had Fey blood, something she'd never heard of before but quickly learned much about. She also learned of the history of Delisvista and was talked into staying and training to fight with them. She learned how to use a firearm which she became very good at. She was with The Thunder for five years. She knew this time that she could change things for the South Delisvistians if she stayed with them and became better. One day the group was ambushed by North Delisvistians. They set a trap and killed every one of The Thunder except Ayla, who hid and then ran. She ran and didn't look back. The people she grew to love died because of her brash decisions and then she ran away. Ayla vowed to never let that happen again.

She eventually made it to Rabanastre in Ivalice. She drowned her sorrows in the taverns picking fights with anyone and everyone. Until one day she picked a fight with an off duty blackguard named Lily and woke up in an ally the next morning with a black eye and a sore ass. Lily who was sitting next to her handed her a flask of water and said, "you got some skills, kid. Sober up and meet me at the Northern Barracks if you want to do something with it." She signed up for the military who soon learned of her ability to use a firearm. They gave her the job as gunner on the Ivalice airships. Ayla and Lilly became good friends. She also became good friends with Corina Camberline. During the war she fought with the rest to protect Rabanstre. When she learned Lily went down in the war, she was devastated. Another friend lost. She wanted to go back to the taverns, drink away her pain again. But when Corina was asked for any recommendations for a Master Gunner on the The Dragonfly she immediately thought of Ayla. Ayla excepted. She would make a difference for herself, for Lily. She wouldn't run away anymore. She wouldn't give up.
