Corina Camberline
Corina was born in Verket, Atish. She grew up around the docks as her father was a fisherman. She felt a natural pull to sea life and working on ships. Her father never wanted that life for her. He knew she was intelligent and liked using tools to fix things. He thought she was wasting her life being around boats. But she couldn't help it. It was a dirty life, the pay wasn't great, but she loved it anyway. The last ship she worked on was known as Storms Kiss. Although she respected Captain Tucker, he was an opportunist and did not always make the best decisions because of this. Atish is in a bad spot when it comes to sea trade. There is no seaway route west due to Swesloop's straight. No one knows if there is actually a way north, though it is probably mostly frozen. To the east is North Delisvista. Though there is a "trade route" it is not very safe. The Nistas (North Delisvistians) do not care for such things and raid and plunder as they see fit. Captain Tucker made a deal to make a shipment to Voria, Opreesha where the payoff would be well rewarded. But this meant they had to sail through The Rend. Corina did not like the plan, but when she learned about the amount of money the crew would make, she didn't speak up against it.
They almost made it through The Rend when they were ambushed by two of Nista's ships. The Nista's fired two warning shots as they were being chased, and that was all Captain Tucker needed to stop the ship. Corina had never heard of Nista's letting anyone go with everything on the ship so she was very nervous as to how this would go. Some of the Nista's boarded the ship as both ships pinned them in on both sides, cannons at the ready. Corina had seen one of the biggest hobgoblins she'd ever seen in her life. He came aboard with a weapon she would never be able to hold. He wasn't alone, a couple of yaun-ti's, and a few more orcs followed him on. The Orcs were holding some sort of musket and looked very aggressive, not disciplined, and ready to snap in a crazy way as wild orcs do. When Corina looked at the other ships she saw more beast races such as gnolls, goblins, more orcs and a whole bunch of brutes. The conversation did not go as planned and everything happened in a blur. Before Corina knew what was going on all three ships were on fire and she was blasted into the water.
She had no clue how she made it to land, but when she woke, she had quickly found out she no longer had an arm. Her knee was also shattered in the blast. She thought her life was over. It took months for her to heal her knee, though it would never be the same again. No ships captain would take her on as their crew. She began hearing of rumors of flying ships in Rabanastre. She eventually made her way there. She hung out near the landing docks and learned all she could about airships. She got a job with the Harbor Master doing odds and ends on and off ships. When she wasn't working on ships, she was using the scrap metal and gears she could find to concoct a sort of metal like contraption that she connected to her shoulder. It wasn't a functioning arm, and it wasn't perfect, but it gave her something to work with. She tweaked the design and function every night. Kepple Tweed took notice of her and invited her to the College of Rabanastre. Here she was able to use her ingenuity and proficiency with tools in exactly the way her father knew she could. She learned more about tools and engineering and about something new to her; how to use mana behind it.
Corina continued to work on airships during her studies until she graduated. She was now able to use a variety of tools to channel her arcane power. Kepple made her the chief engineer on an airship called Steadfast. When the war happened 5 years later, her ship went down in The Last Battle . After the war, she helped repair many of the ships that had been heavily damaged, not having one to call her own for the moment. Kepple came to her and asked if she'd be interested in being a First Mate on a ship called the Dragonfly. He said that Pepper's nephew Nero Vox would be the Captain and he the Cloudhelm. She had heard of Nero Vox and knowing Pepper quite well, agreed.
