Lavabrink

Lavabrink is an underground city in Raugrin made up of decades and decades of incredible Dwarven stonework. The city sits directly below Kauld, the lava lake, and uses special mages called Stonesingers to move the igneous rock above them to guide lava over the entrances to the city when not in use. During the day, the bellowing of these incredible mages can be heard echoing through the carved out caverns of the city. From any visitor's perspective, the city would seem to be carved from one piece of stone, with most buildings simply coming straight up out of the earth. The people of Lavabrink are known to be exquisite craftsman, making use of the Talvot metal found deep under the Ongra mountain range. It is stronger than the common steel of Ikoria, and significantly rarer. The metal tends to be kept within Lavabrink, despite impressive trade offers from the Coppercoats, the military force of Drannith. The metal, along with the heat from the lava of the underground create a perfect forge for Lavabrink, and their craftsmanship is venerated in every civilization on the plane.   It is rumored that the people of Lavabrink come from an old settlement on the surface of Raugrin, which commonly moved to avoid destruction from the Apex monster Vadrok. Eventually a great lavafall was found, and the people of Lavabrink managed to find a small cave behind it. As the civilization grew, they began carving out the stone on the inside, and the city continues to grow downwards, but as of recently has run into issues with more and more internal lavaflows being found and slowing progress. The city is constantly incredibly hot, and as such, beyond the guards of the city, most of the people of the city walk around almost naked, or in traditional, very breathable robes made from the Oorag fibers of the humid Raugrin range.   It's current leader, Almagg Bronn, is a craftsman from a very new family who managed to run the Brinkrun faster than ever before He relied on his family's heirloom, the Heatsbane armor, capable of withstanding the heat from the lavafalls through which the Brinkrun weaves. Despite his technically fair win, there is talk among the guilds that he should be removed from power for his use of his unfair advantage, but Almagg has proven his usefulness as leader of the city, with an expansion of nearly 3 floors under his governance. As such, no one has risen to challenge the Underking, but he does not have the true loyalty of his people.   The city is secondly ruled by the 14 Great Guilds, ancient families whose inventions without question ensured the survival of Lavabrink's residents. Each family holds its place in the Guild from craftsmanship first and by loyalty second. No family has changed in 200 years, but the Bronn family seems to soon seek entry to the Great Hall. Tensions are high, and those guilds who hold position based purely on heirlooms worry greatly at the rising star.
