Raasenka, Home of the Carpenters
Raasenka is a tiny town, consisting mostly of a lumber mill, a fishing port, and a small patch of farmlands. The people have always lived simply and peacefully, far from the proud warrior culture of the rest of Jörmungandrë. Still, they are a tough people, willing to defend their neighbors and take up arms when needed. Many of them have lived their lives with little governance, and see the Council of Yggdrasil as a strange, foreign concept.
Still, nany fear, Queen Agnith included, that Jean-Paul will use the same death right to make his daughter Jarl as opposed to returning the rule to the Hjortr family. Only time will tell if this change was truly for the best.
A Disturbance in the Way of Life
Raasenka is the smallest town in the Council of Yggdrasil to still hold a Jarl, though it makes up for its tiny size with a very intriguing story. The current Jarl Jean-Paul, a native to Tarkir, was given his rule by the previous ruler, Jarl Hjortr, despite not being a blood relative. Long ago, Hjortr gave Jean-Paul a new chance at life by forgiving him for a crime, and Jean-Paul decided to dedicate the rest of his life atoning for his wrongs and helping lead the people of Raasenka. No one thought it was go as far as Jarldom, however. This was a massive controversy, and Hjortr's son still holds envy for Jean-Paul. But despite the strangeness, many love their new leader, who has become known as "the People's Jarl" because of his efforts to know everyone in Raasenka personally.Still, nany fear, Queen Agnith included, that Jean-Paul will use the same death right to make his daughter Jarl as opposed to returning the rule to the Hjortr family. Only time will tell if this change was truly for the best.
