Rogthunkar

Rogthunkar, sitting next to the largest swath of mountains on the Salamander Coast, stands as the proud capital city of the Council of Yggdrasil. Long ago, when most of the land was covered in ice and ruled by mammoths, the people of Rogthunkar adapted to a life of ice fishing and igloo building. Though the climate has become more tolerable in recent centuries, the people have remained just as strong and determined. They are the city where it all began for Jörmungandrë, and no matter how much the world changes and complexifies around them, they will retain their ancient survivor spirit.

A Long-Held Tradition

Because the culture of Rogthunkar was so strong, the Council of Yggdrasil decided not to force the concept of Jarldom onto them, less they risk raging war with some of the most stubborn warriors in Illica. Instead, they allowed the people to keep their system of rule, with the understanding that they were under the Council and would benefit from the nation's prospects. Since most people are already soldiers, Rogthunkar's leadership is tied directly to its military; the three top generals at any given time are also given reigns over the city and any major political decisions. Currently, three women rule Rogthunkar, the three survivors of a team of five that fought back the Nine Sails Pirates twenty years ago.
