Order of the Gatekeepers

Structure

The Order of the Gatekeepers was created to regulate the Great Gates, as the government of Vaal Shaeras thought it was necessary to make sure the gates weren't used for war. At first, it was made up of mainly Sun elves, but other races started to feel that it should be more neutral.   The Order of the Gatekeepers has a very rigid structure and hierarchy divided into four divisions.   The Courier Division is in charge of mail delivery via the gates. This is an elite group of couriers who guarantee delivery within three days. This is a very expensive service, usually reserved for communication between governments.   The Guard Division are guards who are posted at each of the gates. These guards keep anything from getting to the gate without a permit, and prevent anything from coming through it without one. Only the strongest of warriors are accepted into these positions.   The Clerical Division is the clerks who handle the permits to get through the gates. If they have any doubt, they pass it to their superior, and so forth until the matter is resolved. Getting a permit can take weeks. The Order will perform a background check, carefully examine all identifying papers, and generally have a lot of red tape.   The final division, the Enchantment Division, is the highest ranking of them all. It is filled with powerful wizards and artificers capable of creating the Great Gates. They are usually on retainer and have other careers, being called in when another gate needs to be built. They are only called in after extensive work from the Clerical Division.
