Rose Battalion

The Rose Battalion consists of 5,000 special troop who have the Empress as their patron and commanding officer. Originally these troops were responsible for the guarding of the Empress, the imperial house hold, including the palace within the city of Illyria.  The skills of these troops range across the entire spectrum of the military, with additional training being given to them on personal protection duties, counter espionage and unarmed defense.
They were originally formed after an attempted coup against the emperor by a number of imperial legions. A subset of these soldiers stood up against the revolting forces and were able to hold out within the imperial palace until reinforcements were able to march to the capitol to put down these usurpers. As a result, a new military group was founded with the intention of protecting the imperial palace and would report directly to the Empress as their leader instead of through the normal military hierarchy to avoid potential conflicts of interest within these structures.
Since that time, a select number of soldiers were chosen to join the Rose Battalion and left behind their previous assignments and ranks. It is considered a great honor to be a member of the Rose Battalion and many more apply to join each year than there are open positions. Appointments to the Rose Battalion are usually for life and if a soldier is removed from this unit for disciplinary reasons, they are bared from joining any other military unit. When a soldier retires from the Rose Battalion, they are offered an enhanced military pension as well as free medical care. Should the soldier require housing assistance, they can also receive space in any of a number of military barracks throughout the prime imperial cities with special areas and services set aside for members of the Rose Battalion.

High Imperator Dethan Pura

Leader of the Rose Battalion, High Imperator Prua was granted command of the Rose Battalion after the retirement of the previous leader in 317E. Promoted from the Office of the Inquisition, he is only the second High Imperator to be from that branch of the Legion. Commanding for the last few years, he have overseen the growth of Battalion and worked closely with the Imperial Household and the Crown Legion to cover duties with the Capitol as the Crown Legion deployed to the Colonies.
