King Iolas of Bredok

King

Early Life

Born in the heart of Bredok, a city known for its vast libraries and arcane academies, Iolas was not a direct heir to the throne. He was, in fact, the third son of King Aldren. Unlike his older brothers who were rigorously trained in the art of governance and combat, Iolas was often left to his devices, fostering a deep curiosity and love for knowledge.

The Scholar Prince

Growing up, Iolas spent more time with scrolls and tomes than with swords and shields. The royal librarians often remarked that he had read more books than any scholar in Bredok. He showed a particular interest in ancient civilizations and their magics. This earned him the title of "The Scholar Prince" amongst the Bredokian elite.

The Tragedy

A dark day came when Bredok was betrayed from within. Iolas's two elder brothers, manipulated by dark magics from a yet-to-be-identified sorcerer, led a revolt against their own father, King Aldren. The palace was taken, and both Aldren and his queen were imprisoned. However, the rebels hadn't accounted for Iolas's knowledge. Using an ancient spell he had uncovered, Iolas managed to escape the palace with his parents.

Gathering Allies

Over the next three years, Iolas journeyed beyond Bredok, seeking allies and harnessing his arcane prowess. His deep knowledge of lost magics became his most formidable weapon. From the caves of Ormel to the forests of Elthir, Iolas sought out ancient beings, persuading them to join his cause.

The Liberation of Bredok

With an army of mythical creatures and ancient magics at his side, Iolas launched a surprise assault on Bredok. The city, under the tyranny of his brothers, was in shambles. The once-respected academies and libraries had been pillaged. After a fierce battle, Iolas's forces emerged victorious. His brothers, freed from the dark influence that had controlled them, were exiled, and the city was reclaimed.

King Iolas's Reign

Upon his coronation, King Iolas undertook the monumental task of restoring Bredok to its former glory. The libraries were rebuilt, and the academies were given even more prominence. Realizing the threats that external magics could pose, Iolas established the Arcane Guard - an elite group of mages tasked with protecting Bredok from magical threats.   Understanding that knowledge was power, King Iolas expanded Bredok's libraries, sending emissaries to distant lands to collect books and scrolls. He also encouraged the practice of magic and scholarly pursuits amongst his subjects, ensuring that Bredok remained the epicenter of knowledge in the land.

Legacy

Today, King Iolas is revered not just as a savior but as a beacon of enlightenment. His reign has seen a balance of wisdom and strength, proving that one doesn't need to choose between the mind and the sword. Under his leadership, Bredok has flourished as a city of wisdom, magic, and prosperity, and its story continues to unfold.

Fall of Bredok

After the sudden destruction of Bredok by mysterious and unknown metaphysical energies, the current wereabouts and status of Iolas is unknown.
