The Aignathean Wing

I had never felt such shame in my lifetime as I had in that moment. I've fought on many fronts against many enemies. I've fought in seven campaigns and I can see the grey in my beard when I look in the water. I've fought in the van, the rearguard, and everything between. Yet, this time, I had run. Aye, you may be thinking it was a cowardly gesture, and I would agree, but... I'm not proud of what I did. I ran while the rest of my unit was quite literally eaten alive. I ran for my dear life, and it's the only reason I live today. Who wouldn't run from a fucking dragon?
-Excerpt from Imperial Opposition

The Aignathean Wing is the most feared unit of the Aignathead Empire, as their primary mode of transportation and war were dragons. While sight of the unit was rare, as they were saved for major conflicts, the threat of their arrival was ever imminent for many enemies of the Empire. In truth, the Imperials themselves never knew if the Wing would aid them in conflict, as they were considered to be outside of the military's structure since they primarily took their orders from the Empress herself. However, while this was the case, it gave the military their ability to operate without the Wing's assistance, thus ensuring that the reliance was mitigated all together.
