Forge World Lothar
Background
The main forge world of the Concordia sub-sector run by Fabricator General Cybrost . Forge World Lothar has significant manufactora capacity and has managed to keep supplying the sub-sector armies, even with the opening of the Great Rift but this has made the Forge World a prime military target and any disruption to the supply of off-world materials would greatly hinder Imperial forces. The world itself is ravaged by pollution, what remains of the seas has been destroyed by run off and the entire landmass has been turned into wasteland. Food and water for the menials that are not modified enough to no longer require it, must be shipped from offworld along with the materials for the forges. The Rad Wastes, in between the great hives and factories, are controlled by waste gangers and mutated life forms that prey on the pilgrims that come to the planet.Landmarks
Lothar's Folly
The site of Lothar's Folly is the beginning of any true believer's journey to retrace the steps of the holy Saint. It was here that Explorator Magos Lothar would set up the first Forge and settlement on the planet due to its ready access to materials and strong defensive position from the then active eco-system while his fleet would continue on scouting for the Great Crusade. Lothar was an anomaly amongst the Mechanicus. He eschewed all but the most trivial of cybernetic enchancements, believing, heretically, that in flesh was he closer to the greatness of the The God-Emperor of Mankind and therefore the Omnissiah. While Adeptus Mechanicus menials and servitors were building the settlement and starting mining operations, Saint Lothar discovered a vast underground complex which he promptly entered. Its uncertain what transpired in the complex, but after 40 days and nights, a massive explosion ripped through the fledgling Forge leaving a crater roughly 100 miles in diameter and killing the entire Mechanicus settlement. Only Saint Lothar wandered from the ashes. Lothar was granted a vision of the Omnissiah. He had transgressed, treading on holy ground without accepting and bearing the greatness of the machine. For his sins he would being a journey, to holy relics found across the planet, thinking on his sins, until the Omnissiah granted him rest. The Pilgrim Road
The most dangerous stretch of a pilgrim's journey on the path of Saint Lothar, the valley is littered with strange monoliths and ruins of unknown origin. Many Adeptus Mechanicus forces have attempted to study these ruins but all have been unsuccessful or have simply never returned. Today it is largely avoided by the Mechanicus. Gangers and Waste scum also take advantage of the favorable terrain and the inability of the Titan and Knight houses to effectively defend and so raid the pilgrim caravans as they travel. Still, year after year, the pilgrims come and brave the dangers, even if it means passing by the bones of those that came before.Temple of the Omnissiah's Deliverance
Unusual for a forge world, Lothar has a holy site and massive temple complex dedicated to the explorator turned Saint, Lothar, for which the planet is named. The temple complex was built by Mechanicus devotees who claim the site as where Saint Lothar, at the end of his long journey and near death, was granted deliverance and ascended to the right hand of the Omnissiah.Legio Ipnos Fortress
The mighty fortress of the Titan Legio Ipnos is a fearsome site to behold. Located along the main path of travel at the beginning of the rad-wastes, the mighty fortress is visible from miles around with high walls and significant defences. The fortress boasts a large town outside its walls where the weary can seek the last comforts of a bed and warm food before beginning the long pilgrimage in Saint Lothar's footsteps. While most of the Legio's Titan forces are off-world, The God-Machine Righteousness Unending watches over the fortress and all who pass pray at its feet under the watchful gaze of the Legio's Skitarii units.Fabricator General's Forge
The largest forge on Lothar, it is the Fabricator General's personal Forge and manufactora. Capable of massive amounts of output, it equals all other forges on the planet combined.Faded Woods
The last vestiges of a once thriving ecosystem, the faded woods are a miles long stretch of ossified trees and polluted swamp land. It is wise for travelers to stick to the assigned paths on their way to the town of Ashbourne, as the muck that surrounds everything has its share of bones in its depths.Eastern Ruins
Like those found on the pilgrim road, these strange ruins predate Imperial settlement of the world. The path to these ruins lay near the Fabricator General's forge and as such is heavily guarded by Mechanicus forces. Many explorator teams have not returned from this area, and the Mechanicus has deemed it as not relevant to current efforts, even though it lines near several untapped resources vains.
