The Dawn War Pantheon

Across the Material Planes, it is the Dawn War pantheon is the most widely worshipped, mainly due to its associated with humans, that most dynamic of species, but also because all the pantheons acknowledge the Dawn War pantheon as having had importance in both the Dawn War after which they are named, and the Portal Wars that followed after.   Their namesake, the Dawn War, was not between good and evil or chaos and order, as the pantheon includes deities from all sides of the alignment spectrum, but between being and non-being, between the universe existing and it not existing. According to legend, many gods died in this war, gods for whom there are no names, for no one remembers them. Those that remain are the ones given worship, both for their position as gods, but also for their constant vigilance against the spectre of unbeing that remains.   How this pantheon is related to the others is still a matter of conjecture. Current theological thinking is that the other pantheons arrived  after the fabled Dawn War. The elves in particular do not subscribe to this belief, as they claim they are the oldest civilised species in Iodax, so their gods must have come first. It is possible that the humans adopted their pantheon from the halflings, whose myths and legends state that they had a large Empire in the past. The two species commonly share the same beliefs, that is known for sure.
