Session 79: The Benefactor Followed the Stand Your Ground Laws

General Summary

The session then began on BranchForth 27, 2597 around 9AM in The Poisar Alliance on its East Coast at the home of the Benefactor following the destruction of an iron construct guarding the foyer to the estate. Following the Benefactor into his library, the pary was confronted with Atticus' body and the Benefactor's attempts to strike a deal. Oberon (possessed by Atticus) worked on negotiating a deal that would allow the altar of the titans to be constructed and the Benefactor the ascend while the party used it to their ends. He offered Atticus' body to them, though it was still under a necromantic death ward to prevent it from either decaying or being reanimated. He said one of five hourglasses in the room needed to be broken to end this effect. Eventually, talks broke down and Alena Birch struck the first blow with a thrown hand axe.

Following this, the fight began in earnest with a meteor swarm, fire balls, arrows, magic, swords, and much more being wielded. The party destroyed magical books that were casting spells on behalf on the Benefactor while also whittling away at him. Eventually, after having revealed that he truly was Atticus, Oberon being possessed by Atticus struck the killing blow with his great sword, ramming through the Benefactor. He gurgled thorugh blood "You... Back...".

With this, the hourglasses in the room exploded minus the one preventing Atticus's resurrection. Jandar had died in the fight and Rodan Spice drank poison successfully to kill himself afterwards. With this, Rodan Spice was reincarnated as a drow, Atticus was brought back in his old body, and Jandar was brought back as a rock gnome (and immediately named Rodan Spice's heir and promised this mistake would be fixed).

During these rituals, Wren and Tork went outside to check on the druids, to find them all slain around a second slain iron golem. Dozens of them littered the ground, having given their lives to stop this monstrosity and likely keep it from attacking Joint Operations LLC as well.

Atticus as Atticus now looted the body of the Benefactor, taking his keys and other valuable items. With Rodan Spice's death, his marriage to Alena Birch and Atticus was also ended though he promised to remarry both of them. With this, the party took a short rest and healed with Alena Birch's magic.

The session then ended on BranchForth 27, 2597 around 11AM in The Poisar Alliance on its East Coast in the home of the Benefactor following the his death and that of Joint Operations LLC's druid reinforcements.
