Athas College of High Magic

(Work in Progress focusing on other aspects of the college) Athas College of High Magic, the original magical university was founded on the basis of the free study of magic for all gifted with it's abilities. Founded by Archmage Athas Goldspire in the year 800 AI, Athas College         How are abilities discovered/revealed?   What grades/age groups do the the colleges typically cover/teach? Athas College offers magical programs for ages 12-18, Classes are split in age groups divided by year of birth. We also offer Graduate programs for ages 19-22 and Prodigy Programs for ages 5 and above for those little ones that need the extra attention to master their abilities.     Prodigy Program: Designed for those youths that reveal their magical talents at a younger than normal age. The Prodigy Program takes the training of these young minds very seriously. Every year the collected new prodigies are placed into a singular group with a different professor (preferably with tenure) charged with their protection and training. This professor stays assigned to their group all the way until the youngster is old enough to join the regular classes.   Late Bloomers: In the case of someone who is awakened at a later period past some of the earlier classes the magical college admissions take an equal interest in them as their prodigy program candidates. Because of the nature of a late bloomer being behind in curriculum often they are assigned an upperclassmen student with a similar magical affinity armed with the current underclassmen curriculim. These upper classmen are then responsible for applying the curriclum as needed to teach them the course work in order to help fill in the gaps that are necessary to cover for academic success in the upperclass courses. Often times this does not end up working and the late bloomer fails out or maintains low enough grades that they can transfer to a smaller school that will give them their certification. In extreme cases where the previously mentioned format does not work sometimes a late bloomer can be assigned to the lower classes and can work their way from the bottom if requested.
