Axainadrax
The Axainadrax, or turquoise drake, is a common creature in the The Wildlands, though it can sometimes be found in tamed lands as well. A typical adult drake is the size of a large breed dog, and particularly impressive individuals get up to the size of a pony. They are particularly noted (and feared) due to their unusual resistance to magic, as well as the paralytic vemon they deliver with their powerful bite.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Axainadrax is a 4 legged lizard with a long tail and a large head. Unlike some of its Draconic cousins, it has neither wings nor magical powers, but it makes up for their lack in pure ferocity. Their bodies are heavily muscled, granting considerable power to their claws, tail swipes, and their bite, making them very dangerous to face even if one had an effective countermeasure to their paralytic venom.
Their skin is made up of a fine coat of turqoise scales - generally darker on top and brighter below - this allows it reasonable camouflage in its preferred environment - the edges of lakes and rivers, ambushing prey that come to drink from the water or the underbrush with equal ease.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
The Axainadrax is considered a monster, and hunted accordingly by adventurous young warriors. Indeed, among warrior circles, successfully hunting a Turquoise Drake is a right of passage, and those who manage to kill one without anyone in the hunting party being bitten are honoured with a turquoise badge historically made from the skin of the killed monster. These days, however, that badge is usually made by a jeweller using coloured glass cut to look like larger scales, held together by a silver fitting - the skin trophy is still well regarded, but is considered barbaric by much of society.

They actually sound kind of beautiful. I love those colours together. Also - yikes, the size of a pony! D: I like the note about the badges now being made of glass more often because skin is seen as barbaric.

Thanks! I never thought of it, but, yeah, they probably would be kind of beautiful. As long as you see them at a time when they're not currently ripping something's face off or worse.
