Iveli
Iveli, the flying city
"'T came over the sea! I swear!"
"A part of an ancient civilization, brought to life once again"
Iveli is a city which was once a subsection of Shinard. Brought to life again by a group of nomadic Gnomes seeking refuge. These gnomes were expert clockwork makers, already known to create various magical and artificial life and creations. These settlers lived in the city for a few years before stumbling upon a new idea.
As part of resurrecting the city, they came upon the idea to take the city with them on their nomadic trips. Using massive glowing flotation stones, they managed to rip the city loose of its foundation and up in the air. The managed to cross the cyrillic sea with relative ease before seeing the western mountains of east Irodan in view. Realizing the stones could not lift the city any higher too late, they crashed into the mountain ranges, where now the city stands.
The Iveli gnomes have attributed a fair few inventions to their own name that they now travel the world to sell and show.
The Iveli gnomes bring inventions with them from faraway lands. Their major creations include the warforged and the airships.
Demographics
The inhabitants are nearly completely rock gnomes. Intermixed are metallic servants known as Warforged. Most of these are of ancient making, though a single also appears to be very newly made instead.
Most of the ancient warforged serve as low class assistants to the gnomes. They guard the entries and help carry several heavy objects across town.
Government
Vennoa, claims the title of queen of the city. Originally she was the one who uncovered the city square and planned its departure from the main land. She managed to convince her fellow nomads to travel with her on the demand that she would lead Iveli going forward.
She claims single and only rulership over the city, and everyone else falls below her.
She has assigned tax men, who walk by the cities' inhabitants to collect tax on a weekly basis.
She has put in place the following laws:
- Praise your queen
- No religion
- No rebelling
- No dumping waste off of the city
- No leaving the city, unless you plan to not return
- No unsupervised visitors
- No trespassing in the queens gardens
- No pets
Defences
The city features thin but sturdy metallic walls. Platforms can be reached on the inside to attack any potentially assaulting forces. Ballista's area present around the town for defence against flying enemies as well as a number of warforged ready to fight.
Furthermore, the city sports small sky gliders (small airships, big enough for up to six people) that patrol and allow attack from above.
Infrastructure
The city features a main square and a number of buildinga around it. Many stack up to 4 floors high with shops intermixed with homes. In between one of the larger areas is a small farm where crops are being grown.
The main square features a brass plated statue of Vennoa, and is being used in the evenings for great parties if the resources are available.
The outer ring of the city features a small but recently made wall, standing about 2m tall and 30 cm wide. The wall has small platforms accessible from inside that allow looking over the wall for surveillance and defence.
Assets
The near entirety of the city is plated in various types of metal. Some parts still appear rusted yet most are replaced by newer material.
Attached to the tiny farm is a produce store, which sells the grown crops to the other citizens.
A small tinkerers workshop is present in the south of the village. Here, the first recent warforged has been created using a soul stone. This workshop is ran by Corbis.
The city also features a manor, repurposed as a castle. This is where Vennoa lives. Surrounding it are gardens.
