Serpent's Swing
A swing, a swing, a swing for me, something hidden you cannot see
Another door, another room, another warning steeped in gloom. Another room that the visage inside does not match the drab contours of the Castle of the Damned. Inside rests a lush meadow, a large Aelinor Oak like those in the Elven Forest standing as sentinel in the middle of the clearing. A single strand of woven rope hangs from a low-lying branch, an invitation to swing hanging unanswered in the air.
The childlike feel of swinging on a swing, especially those in great open spaces or those swings that hang from centuries-old trees, is enough to draw in almost any adventurer, childlike wonder and curiosity replacing possible years of hardened survival skills. Curiosity can kill even the greatest adventurers if they choose to give in to the pull of their own minds. This swing is no different from those of their childhood, but why is an object of such wonder buried within the harrowing walls of a castle such as this one.
Another vision, another illusion, another trick of the light bent upon the death of all who enter. This vision takes a bit longer to dispel than others, giving those that risk the memories their inner child wishes to recreate time to swing and laugh before they are sent to their fate. Some beasts of the castle are hard to awaken, some sleep far after their call to rise has come.
A bone naga, illusioned to look like the rope of the swing, slowly wakes from a deep sleep. Those that dared swing on the bone naga rope will find their demise coming swiftly. The illusion falls away, and the room of the serpent is nothing more than the cragged stone of the Castle of the Damned.
Design
The room is a square room, not much bigger than ten feet by ten feet, but the illusion upon it gives the look of being a large open meadow. A central pillar, or tree, stands in the middle of the room from which the bone naga hangs from. While under the illusion, the pillar looks to be an Aelinor Oak from the Elven Forest with a large rope swing hanging from it.
Entries
Like many of the rooms in the castle, this room only has one entry. Due to the illusion, escape looks more promising with open spaces to run to, but a single small door is the only way in and out of the room.
Sensory & Appearance
The illusion is set to look like a late summer or early fall day in the Elven Forest. You can feel the warmth of sunshine upon your skin and hear the rustling of the leaves in the tree. The soft hush of moving grass is also heard. In its sensory effects, the illusion is extremely encompassing.
