To look at him, you would think Calaius Juran nothing more than a jovial, minor senatorial adjunct with no great aspirations. This little spriggan is well liked by most and trusted by many. His persona is carefully maintained as Calaius slips his wings into rooms throughout the empire. Calaius has even managed to manpiulate his way into acting as a trusted confidant and advisor to both sons of the emperor. He is not an uncommon sight in the imperial palace and has been known to on occasion take his meals with the family. So though none would think it a matter of import, his words reach the emperor's ear. In truth, Calaius is one of the most powerful men in Rema. While his motivations are certainly selfish, he is not prone to cruelty without purpose. There have been many cases where his movements within the senate have settled conflicts that would likely have led to outright conflicts. One reason he is so easily overlooked despite his apparent omnipresence in Reman politics is his seeming lack of any cause or agenda. His position does not vote or speak on the senate floor, but many in adjunct positions attempt to leverage their access to multiple senators to champion a cause or even elevate themselves into an opportune position. Calaius presents the appearance of one who is perfectly content with his present position and with the state of the empire in general. In this guise he has managed to bring himself great wealth and the ability to manipulate many senators and even to a degree the emperor. It is no wonder then that his house is so well appointed or that spriggans enjoy certain advantages that other feykith do not. Behind the scenes he orchestrates many shifts of wealth, particularly on Rema Prime, which bring more and more under his sway. He has also ammassed a fair number of ships and arms which are held behind several layers of intrigue. What his ultimate goals are or how he plans to use the emperor and senate to help achieve them are as yet unrevealed, so for the moment he remains a jovial, quietly influential spriggan.
