Empire of Nurz

The Empire of Nurz, also known as the Nurzite Empire, was a vast, magically advanced nation that arose shortly after the Emergence in Argyros. Formed from the ashes of the much more ancient Nethic Empire, the Nurzites were one of the most powerful forces to colonize the world after the Entombment. Originating as a magical faction with Neth, they were well known for their abuse of teleportation, being able to send entire legions of soldiers across continents and creating impossible structures only navigable with advanced conjuration. They built cities across multiple planes as well, and were known for summoning otherworldly forces into their servitude. Ancient tales tell of armies full of demons and orcs riding alongside Nurzite soldiers.   The Empire of Nurz fell during the Doom of Nurz, a mysterious magical event possibly related to a Wild Magic Surge. All that is known is that, over a very short period of time, the Nurzites began disappearing, abandoning their cities and strongholds all across Argyros. The reason why is hotly contested by scholars. One theory states that the Nurzites' teleportation failed them, causing them to be ejected across the planes; others believe that their exodus was planned, and that Nurzites left to build a new Empire in a place beyond the limits of reality.

The Legacy of the Nurzites

The effects of the Empire of Nurz are still felt in the modern era. The Nurzites brought over a number of extraplanar beings into Istoria, most notably the Orcs, whom they used as slaves and soldiers. They also created the penal colony of Threst to exile their half-orc offspring to. Nurzite ruins are found all across their ancient holdings, especially in Dremeria, Yorheim, and their ancient capital, the Rift of Nurz.
