Before man walked this earth, there existed the dragons. They are beings of great strength and intelligence that bear traits bestowed onto them by the realms in which they inhabit, and most commonly fall into the categories of metallic or chromatic. Due to their power, elder dragons (referred to as great wyrms) are sometimes worshipped as demi-deities by mortals who do not know better.
Other kinds of dragons, like outer dragons, do exist, but are far less visible to usual mortals.
Dragons have their own pantheon of deities distinct from that of mortal gods, and rarely choose to worship other deities over their own. Indeed, it is more common for dragons to ally with non-draconic deities as servants or friends than to openly worship them outright.
