Duergar

Duergar, perhaps better known as deep dwarves, are the dark-dwelling kin of dwarves. Whilst their dwarven kin often dig deep, their homes still reach the surface, and they spend much time in the sun. Duergar, by contrast, live so far in the earth that they are shaped by its darkness, much as the drow were.
Though exact relations between duergar and dwarves are regional, their differences have sown deep hatred between the would-be kin - hatred that is reflected all the way to their gods, who take on aspects of this hatred themselves. It has caused duergar to be mistreated by the few surfacedwellers who find them, leading to many duergar clans turning to unsavory work instead, far from the eyes of the rest of the world.
