Imbreagat River

The Imbreagat River is - or perhaps was - a major trade river running from the Medimian Empire to Niniéra, the Vostene Republic, and beyond. It formed a keystone of Arriusi culture and served the development of countless villages and towns along its banks.   Outside of the Empire, the Imbreagat virtually ceased to flow altogether once it was dammed in an extremely controversial move made by the Empire. Though rebel efforts and diplomatic talks within and without the Empire's borders sought to preserve the river in some manner, the Medimian Empire chose to continue the dam project and deliberately stymie the river's outflow.   Now, many of the river's former banks have run dry. Efforts are under way to redirect other local rivers into the Imbreagat's former path to reignite former trade routes, and some have turned to alternative methods of transport - such as carónnae barges - to maintain the old trade routes.
