The Sentinel's of Halion
The Sentinels of Halion are possibly the single most intimidating military force in Isira. Loyal only to the Imperial family of Halion they are versatile and effective in all things. One would think manning the walls of Thravace since the death of the last Emperor would have made them weak. But nothing could be further from the truth thanks to their frequent and rigorous training.
Composition
Manpower
Two-thousand strong standing army, and an unknown amount of special operatives.
Weaponry
Their equipment is diverse, the Honor-guards of the throne room of the Imperial Palace for example wear full plate, carrying large tower shields and spears, as well as shorts swords for close engagements. The standard Sentinel such as those that defend the walls of Thravace carry longbows, swords, and tower shields. Finally for the special operatives their equipment depends entirely on the mission and operative.
Structure
The overall commander of the Sentinels is currently Lord-Commander Finlay Vanesk, as they don't leave Thravace its a relatively easy job to manage the Sentinels, below him are field commanders, and below them are sergeants.
The special operatives are typically only in contact with a handler and are trusted to complete their objectives without direct supervision
Tactics
In the open field they form versatile blocks, using their shields to protect themselves and their comrades. On the walls of Thravace they fight in pairs, one using their shield to block arrows, the other to fight back against any would be invaders with their bow.
Training
For a Sentinel Honor guard you must be hand picked from the ranks of the Sentinels, by ether the Lord Commander, or the Imperial family. Though as there hasn't been an Imperial family in ages all honor-guard are picked by the Lord Commander.
The sentinels in general are chosen from across the country typically from noble families or exceptional fighters who can be trusted.
Finally for the Special Operatives, every special operative is hand picked at a young age typically this happens when a Sentinel selected one of their children for the program.
Logistics
Logistical Support
As the Sentinels haven't left Thravace for a military campaign in ages, they no longer have logistical support.
History
Historical loyalties
The Sentinels are without question loyal to the Imperial family, in the families absence they serve their Lord Commander, and protect Thravace.
