Black Sanctum
A large fortress-like structure made of black iron, and headquarters to the Blackguard. Sitting on the southern edge of the Iron District, the whole structure is imposing, towering above the nearby workshops.
Purpose / Function
The Black Sanctum can comfortably lodge over one hundred dwarves, despite rarely being filled to such capacity. Amenities such as studies, mess halls, training quarters and conference rooms allow much of the Blackguard's needs to be met within the building proper.
A small, underground dungeon holds twenty cells, often used to hold prisoners of war or the criminals that apprehended by one of the guard's rare investigations.
Architecture
Despite being located within an underground city, the building was built to mimic the forts and keeps that one would expect from the overground cities. Three claw-like towers rise towards the cave's ceiling, and heavy, thick, portcullis block passage into the building proper.
History
The Black Sanctum was built during the Struggle of the Buried, as an additional layer of defense for the city of Vog Thurum. The darklings abhorrence to iron is the most likely reason for the usage of darkened iron as the main construction material.
