Manor of Astabar

Located an hours walk away from the village of Havehollow, north through the forest, this is a manor formerly belonging to of the wizard Astabar. As of the 3rd of Kythorn, 1490 DR, it is in the possession of Bam Bam the Inquisitive and Mirage. Jeax and Rask live and manage the manor.  

The Manor Grounds

  It is a three story stone manor house, behind a stone wall just over two meters in height, with a rusted iron gate set into it. The grounds are overgrown and most of the stone work is covered by vines. The vegetation reaches the wall and the interior courtyard is a labyrinth of vegetation. Among it can be found various common plants that may be used in potions and poisons, such as bloodgrass and lavender. There is a pond with a giant frog in it. Its name is Huckleberry Finn. On the south side of the garden is a grave and memorial for Rivana Greywyre. There are two entrances to the manor, a set of ornate but ruined double doors in the south wall that opens to the entry foyer, and a single door in the north wall that leads to the kitchen.

The First Floor

 

1. Entry Foyer

Ahead of you, the main hallway stretches through the manor. To the left is the sitting room, while the stairs to the second floor is to the left. There is a small room underneath the stairs.  

2. Sitting Room

4.5 x 4.5 meters. Contains a comfortable sofa and chairs. The quality material and engraved wood marks the pieces of furniture as high quality.  

3. Dining Hall

A long finely crafted dining table, with eight chairs surrounding it. On the south wall is a large painting of the full moon. Behind the painting is a secret compartment.  

4. Servants Dining Area

6 x 6 meters. Two long tables with benches that run the length of the room.  

5. Parlor A

6 x 6 meters. Comfortable chairs and other fine furnishings. There is a large ornate vase in the room. Against the south wall is a matching pair of wooden chairs.  

6. Parlor B

(7.5 x 6 meters. Two ornate divans, several chairs, and tables.  

7. Kitchen

4.5 x 10.5 meters. There are several work tables. A large fireplace on the northern wall. A large collection of utensils and pans. A row of clay jars on a shelf along the south wall. A narrow stairwell leads up to the second floor, and a door to the left leads outside.  

8. Pantry

There are a number of shelving units with various food items like grain, flour, and jars of preserves, like jams and pickled vegetables.    

The Second Floor

 

9. Second Floor Hallway

A hallway runs the entire length of the west side of the manor.  

10. Bam Bams Room

4.5 x 6 meters. There is a bed, a dresser, and a chair, all of unremarkable quality. There is an ornate chest made of a reddish wood bound in copper in the northwest corner.  

11. Mirages Room

4.5 x 6 meters. There is a large four post bed with a canopy curtain. The bed has crimson blankets and gold coloured pillows. There is a large dresser in cherry wood.  

12. Library

6 x 9 meters. Shelves line the walls. A large oak desk is in the middle of the room. The legs of the desk are carved to resemble coiled dragons. The chair behind it is of similar design. There is an iron candelabra fashioned to resemble a hydra with nine heads on the table. The candelabra gives off a magical aura. When the word “light” is spoken, small flames burst from the mouths of the hydra giving off light equal to eight candles. The word “darkness” deactivates the flames. In one corner is an assembled suit of plate mail armour clutching a sword. The long sword is silvered.  

13. Closet A

3 x 3 meters.  

14. Closet B

3 x 3 meters.  

15. Jeax & Rasks Room

6 x 7.5 meters. There is a dresser. A smashed large bed adorned with furs and a high backed chair with a scene between elves and goblins carved into the wood. There is a bedside table. A trap door in the ceiling leads up to the attic.  

16. Changing Room

4.5 x 6 meters. An ornate desk with a mirror and a chair. Along the east wall are pegs from which hang a variety of wizardly robes and fine clothes.  

17. Bathroom

3 x 6 meters. At the far end of the chamber is a metal tub.  

The Third Floor

 

18. Attic Room

4.5 x 6 meters. The trap door opens into a windowless room. The only item of furniture is a square table with a candle on it.  

19. Main Attic

A large cluttered room that runs almost the entire length of the building. It is filled with all manner of strange objects of both occult and mundane nature.  

20. Study

There are several tables covered in vials and bottles of various components and materials. A large bookshelf holds several dozen volumes of magic lore. There is a magic circle drawn into the tabletop. There is a black oak chest to the right of the door.
