Warden of Jade
Other than the old titles of Nobility, the title of Warden is one of the oldest titles in the known world. This title was given to one of the four great heroes in the world. It came with a singular, heavy responsibility of protecting the entire world from the clutches of evil and darkness. A council of Kings and Queens would gather in each continent to choose a family to protect them. From there, The oldest of each family, usually a male member of the family, became the continent's protector; fighting monsters and stopping villains from committing evil deeds. In modern times, the title has been expanded to encompass all of Jade, with the current Wardens having the power and the means to arrive anywhere in the world at a moment's notice. However, The Wardens must swear neutrality, avoiding political disputes and wars. They must also go unpaid, as to avoid the temptation of greed. They mostly rely on fortune found in the dungeons they delve into, or loot they take from the villains they slay. Some Wardens have been known to reluctantly accept donations of equipment, food, and supplies from the people the help, but never financial compensation. They tend to be seen with some of the best equipment found in Jade, and are considered to be the world's most formidable fighters. Not much is known publicly about the new Code of the Wardens, but with representatives like Lord Mercy Haventree and Savari Pleasure, the world hasn't found much reason to be anxious.
