Shiro Takeda makes his initial appearance in Session 2 as a customer seeking quality coffee at Mia Toko, his clothing serves as a visible marker of his affluence, setting him apart as an individual of significant financial means. Quickly revealing his knowledge of the staff being Jaoren by flashing his orange eyes, he refers to Hugo Whitlock and Dimitri Vasiliev as "Little Birds" upon learning that they are newly awakened Jaoren. Shiro attempts to invite them to spend time together at Warui Basho, claiming to possess the secrets of seamlessly blending into human society. Although Hugo initially accepts the invitation, after a private conversation with Akane Udasenkai, who expresses disapproval and warns of Shiro's negative influence, Hugo informs Shiro that they must cancel their plans.
In Session 4, Shiro returns to Mia Toko accompanied by Hayato Fujita. Hayato reveals Hugo's status as a Red Eye to Shiro, who expresses delight at the revelation, assuring Hugo that he will keep the secret safe. Shiro also subtly hints at the idea that Gretel Kurosaki might have had a significant role or influence in District 7 before her involvement with Mia Toko.
During Session 5, Shiro visits Mia Toko once more, engaging in a conversation with Dimitri about Jaoren-related books and sharing the story of Tatsuki Inoue. Upon learning of Dimitri's similar interest in books, Shiro invites him to Harako 9, a bookstore in District 13, which Dimitri accepts.
In Session 8, both Hugo and Dimitri meet with Shiro at Harako 9 in District 13. They discuss various topics, including their experiences at Mia Toko. As the conversation progresses, Shiro reveals that he is the son of a family business called Takeda Industries, one of the three biggest companies in Japan. Shiro offers both the newly awakened Jaoren protection, explaining that one's identity matters less when you have enough money. Shiro further details that the only condition for sharing his wealth and safety with them is that Hugo willingly provides samples, as Shiro has a distinct fascination with Red-Eyed Jaoren.
In response to questions about his interest in Red-Eyed Jaoren, Shiro states that something so rare must be researched, drawing a reference to The Many Headed Viper. Further inquiry about the Viper leads the conversation to an individual Shiro refers to as the White Demon and how the Viper played a role in the birth of the Demon. Shiro also directs Dimitri towards an old book in the library called "The Nameless Jaoren," claiming it to be one of his favorites.
