Originally called testeggs, these life support tubes create an environment where one can heal free of contamination. The liquid inside combined with a steady pulsing of small amounts of electricity, much like a heart beat, some how seem to keep otherwise doomed patients alive and stable.
The name Recovery Sanctuary was later coined by Doctor Vear Mecdir, who felt calling them testeggs was crude and not very descriptive, though he knew not of their origins as a very literal egg for a test.
History
They were originally developed as a curiosity to see if one could hatch an unborn vivie removed to early from the womb the same way an ovie is born. Of course, these sorts of experiments would be considered barbaric and horrid to most, so a pirate ship was the perfect location to birth them, as it where. And their creator was likewise known for having strange and disturbing methods.Utility
The few in use currently come in two verities. The full tube and half tube.
The half tube variety is used to assist in intense lifesaving surgeries, usually ones that involve organ replacements or bone restructuring.
The full tube ones are used mostly for lab samples, test materials, and spare organ storage. These procedures and uses are uncommon and considered debase, unsettling, and outright profane by most, therefor the technology has not had much of a public backing in production as of yet.

Access & Availability
They can only be found in three locations scattered across Vondren.
West Winds Conservatory, FourEs Headquarters, and the Cuhcil University of the Medical Sciences. The last two locations are trying to figure out how they work exactly, to study, recreate, or improve them as the originals are sort of slapdash created by an amateur engineer. The very first testegg is still in use on Jaumun and can be found in Roben's Roost. It's been modified to work with lost past medical information and tech.
