Condensed Spark
Properties
Material Characteristics
Condensed Spark is most commonly found in liquid form following the liquefaction of energy from the The Sea of Sparks. Condensed Spark has the appearance of liquid smoke, or smoke trapped in a liquid, with billowing grey purple clouds floating freely in the liquid and is incredibly light, weighing only one quarter the weight of water. Concentrated Spark also begins to boil and smoke when exposed to open air, slowly evaporating. Concentrated Spark also has no perceivable temperature to it and, when evaporating a quiet but shrill ringing or clicking sound can be heard. The fluid also provides absolutely no tactile sensation and is not disturbed by the physical touch of Mortals. As a result, Condensed Spark must be handled with specialized tools.
History & Usage
Everyday use
The Liquefaction of Spark was a revolutionary discovery made in Kijarro and is now a closely guarded secret of the state. This is because of the miraculous properties that the fluid exhibits. Condensed Spark is for a superior foundation for potion brewing when compared to traditionally treated water. While alchemy is a mysterious and complex art, it is commonly practiced in Kijarro because of the greater accessibility afforded by the use of Condensed Spark. Using Condensed Spark allows an alchemist to skip much of the arduous and expensive process of brewing a potion, including the powerful and secretive tincture used to create the Kaisha.
Cultural Significance and Usage
The alchemical accomplishments and the Kaisha which the Condensed Spark have allowed for are points of national pride among the Kijarrish. The availability of Condensed Spark has allowed for a large artisanal class of alchemists to flourish in Kijarro and even travel abroad, although the availability of Condensed Spark is mostly limited to Kijarrish territory.
Refinement
The secrets of the creation of Condensed Spark are closely guarded. It is believed that the liquefaction process is performed after the death of a mortal by trained professionals from The Rameki Guild. It is said that the last threads of a life lived can be harvested in the moments after death and that each Kijarrish citizen can perform this final service for Kijarro as they die and prepare to move on to the afterlife. Critics claim that this process might destroy the soul of the recently deceased. The result of the liquefaction process is a small bottle of pure, Condensed life energy.
