The Inquisition
Composition
Manpower
The Inquisition numbers 304 Inquisitors of all ranks.
Equipment
The Inquisition is outfitted in the best armor that the Ackramorian Empire has access to, including rare sets of magical heavy plate armor.
Weaponry
The Inquisition has access to unique, powerful weapons and some divine magical powers.
Vehicles
The Inquisition famously ride griffons, each Inquisitor spends years earning the trust and respect of their griffons. The Inquisitors care for and train with their griffons from the moment that they hatch and each is bound to one another for life, never to take another bonded mount or rider again.
Structure
9 Inquisitors answer to an Inquisitor-Sergeant and are called a "Wing." 10 Inquisitor Sergeants and those underneath them answer to an Inquisitor-Captain which forms a "Flight." The three Inquisitor-Captains each command one of the three Inquisitor Flights, the Tiniad Flight, Actius Flight, and Temora Flight. The Inquisitor captains each answer exclusively to the Emperor of the Ackramorians. Currently the leader of the Inquisition is Evanlyn Vita.
The Inquisition is a mysterious unit but it is widely known that they bypass the regular chain of command and the checks and balances that exist to limit the power of the Emperor and simply answer directly to the Emperor.
Tactics
The Inquisition is a secretive organization that exists as a direct extension of the Empress' will. When the Inquisition is given an objective it is known to use either a wing of Inquisitors, a flight, or, in dire circumstances, the entire Inquisition will go to exercise the Empress' will. At least one wing of the Inquisition always remains near the Empress to protect them, although their mounts are still visible to the public even more rarely than the inquisitors themselves. The Inquisition is believed to perform devastating attacks from the sky, charging down bearing long lances, beaks, and claws.
Training
It is rumored that during times of relative peace, the Inquisition will dispatch some of their wings or even an entire flight to the Deadlands to eradicate undead and hone their skills from the relative safety of the sky.
Logistics
Recruitment
The Inquisition exclusively recruits prodigious individuals from the ranks of the The Ackramorian Imperial Army. There are no try-outs or tests, Inquisitors simply arrive in the dead of night when replacements are needed and offer the selected soldier the opportunity to join. The soldier then disappears with them into the night without a word. It is said that no one has ever turned down the Inquisition's offer.
History
The Inquisition was formed in the time of the first emperor of the Ackramorian Empire, Temora Primus, before his ascension to godhood as Prime, God of Civilization. The Inquisition was formed during the early days of the Ackramorian Empire as a fast reaction force, used to quickly find and destroy enemies of the Empire. Temora Primus' last order to the Inquisition was to limit its size to 300 Inquisitors plus 3 captains and the Emperor, and that the Inquisition would serve as the throne's eternal protectors and the right hand of every Emperor that would follow.
