Tribunal

Geography

Tribunal is the first plane in Orbis and the first stop for all souls on their way to the afterlife in Orbis. Tribunal is comprised of a snaking maze of shelved scrolls that each document the lives and deeds of every Mortal in existence. The floor of Tribunal is a bark that is said to be a living root of the great tree of Wildrground. The sky in Paladora's domain is said to follow a cycle of night and day, just as it does on Jeharr, but that all Mortals arrive at sundown and forever more, they perceive Tribunal as being shrouded in nighttime, the Cosmos stretching out over them. At the end of the maze is Paladora herself and often Soluna, the great divine bookkeeper, as well as the path to Gate.

Localized Phenomena

Day and night are subjective in Tribunal. Most Mortals arrive at sundown and overtime, night falls over Tribunal and day never to dawn again. If a Mortal were to visit while they were still alive, then they would see Tribunal during the day and they would see how far the sun yet had to travel before eternal night.

History

Tribunal was created by the Interventionist Gods as a barrier between Orbis and Jeharr. Their intention was to guide Mortals toward the teachings of the Gods by creating a qualification that must be passed in life in order to attain eternal paradise in one of the Godly domains of Orbis. Tribunal also exists to protect Orbis from evil and corrupting influence by some of the other Gods, Externus, and other powerful forces in Internus.   Overtime the followers of Gianti, Itar, and Farahnita, Goddess of Love were permitted in Orbis under their own parameters, though every Mortal is still examined by Paladora. Some Mortals also find refuge with other Gods on other planes of existence outside of Tribunals influence, such as with Xihana, Goddess of Sense on Entros or with Prime, God of Civilization on Imperialus.   The majority of Mortals still arrive for judgement in Tribunal and some are even sent to other planes outside of Orbis if the Gods of Orbis and the receiving God see fit. However, every century fewer Mortal souls arrive for judgement in Tribunal, many instead being taken in by other Godly planes outside of Orbis, or picked off by other powerful forces. The scrolls of those who do not ever arrive are said to be burned in holy fire, if their souls do not arrive in Orbis then there is no point in their record.
