Embias

Embias is a fungus that grows in the inner plateau and mountain caves of Leathem When the first dimensional migration came from faerie it was the first solid food migrants could get down. It has tremendous powers of sustenance and a little goes a long way. In fact one can survive entirely on a diet of Embias. The drawback is that it is a dampner of magical power.  The high elf community knows this but cannot get away from a basic need that is ingrown in their bodies to have it. 
Embias is simultaneously the most incredibly nourishing and addicting substance. The addiction is so strong that babies are born with a need for it and unless they are given the slightest taste at birth in this world they will die. As such some high elven children are taken to the fae world at birth to help wean them from the substance.  Someone of half elf descent has little need. Wood elves have a stronger need for it and have made no attempt to wean themselves of it thus making them dependent on the high elves of Leathem.

Geology & Geography

Embias is found on the outer cave walls of the Leathem Plateau. It is almost as if it was given out as a byproduct of the polar opposites of gateway and magnetism present in Jennara.

The substance of Embias was created by a collision of magic and magnetism that created a food for a race for faerie immigrants.
