I now understand the full intention behind this trip. I would appreciate it next time if you and Roghan would be truthful with me when you task me with such a mission. I believe I would of put aside my reservations and accepted the tasks regardless of my misgivings. Regardless, the mission is complete; below is the summary of events, I send them to you in letter since it will be a month before the pass opens, but ravens are still flying. I will give a full accounting when I return Kruhn’s Keep.
I followed the mark as request to Flamhugn. Upon arrival he made arrangements to stay in both the Beacon’s Crossing and the Ash District. He lodged for the first few days the Crossing’s, taking many meetings with affluent members of society, no ones of particular interest, list of names and associated businesses will be delivered with my in-person report. Arrangements were made to attend the Council’s festival gala. It appears that all nobles were returning to the Capital for the Feast of Bonfires.
After a few days, he made his way to the Ash District, where he made arrangements to parley with the Hand. And, where I learned of the true intentions of this mission and why you sent me. On the night of the parley, the meeting was to be hosted in a warehouse in the Fire’s Eye Cavern near the elevator shafts. I mention this only because, it was done so for strategic purposes, for security and access. It was impossible for me to find entrance since three of the sides were connected to the sheer cliffs of the elevator shafts with no adjacent buildings attached. The front of the warehouse was guarded by soldiers from both The Hand and The Dagger. Upon arrival of the Mark and what appeared to be the capos and the consigliere for The Hand they entered the warehouse. Within minutes, the sounds of horrific screams could be heard from inside the warehouse. The Dagger soldiers quickly dispatched the Hand thugs outside and the Mark left the warehouse. All the soldiers left the premise with no concern of the dead bodies littering the warehouse. After a time, I entered the warehouse when I knew it was safe. As suspected the warehouse was a slaughterhouse. The Daggers must of entered through the cliff sides of the building or had been expertly waiting for 24 plus hours inside the location. Everybody was savagely brutalized and eviscerated, a typical hallmark of the Dagger’s.
I caught up with the mark the following day back in the Crossing’s. It was the day of the Feast of Bonfires so he prepared himself for the Gala. After leaving his room, I was able to break into his room and confirm that he is a member of the Dagger in the Hand, but I do not believe he is one of Margraves. I was able to gain access to the gala. He conducted himself a rich merchant of antiquity based out of Demtodna. The only noteworthy conversation he had was with the Duchess Kirov of Ostenhut, who appeared to be accompanied by a foreign dignitary (human). I was unable to get close enough to over hear the details of the conversation.
This concludes by summary of events. I look forward to returning to Kruhn’s Keep, and upon my arrival will be available for further questioning.
Faithful to Keep,
Erig
