Karbas

Karbas is a large state in Western Kolaskyva. Although of Rutheinian ethnic origin, Karbas in the modern day remains independent from the Rutheinian state.   Karbas is situated in one of the most important geographical areas in the world. Having mountains along its spine and near the north of its borders, which stretch out into an inhospitable steppe, means that the southern core is well-defended. More important than that, however, is the peninsula's jutting into the Great Channel. The Karbasi peninsula essentially divides the Great Channel in two, creating between the landmass and the northern coast of Fripperland a thin body of water referred to as the Strait of Nahmkerad. This waterway bottlenecks global trade and allows the controller of the strait to collect exuberant tolls on any cargo.   On the north of this seaway, and at the far southern tip of the Karbasi peninsula, sits the grand city of Nahmkerad.
