Yuilnk Kingdoms
The term "Yuilnk Kingdoms" refers to a group of powerful City-states in medieval Ethernia, specifically within Legan. There were, during this period, many such independent cities in southwestern Legan, and the region as a whole was addressed as a collection of many little kingdoms, paying no heed to any sovereign besides that of their city. That said, there were, of course, many leagues and alliances between cities both for intra and interregional conflicts. The term would fall out use shortly after the reign of Ethel Mezezi began, as her establishing of hegemony over the region would put an end to the already fading power and independence of the Yuilnk kingdoms.
Several of the most important of the Yuilnk Kingdoms' cities are as follows: Iso, Tayun, and Elkan. There were many cities besides these within the Yuilnk kingdoms, but these three, by the end of the region's power, retained the highest honors and statuses.
The cities of the Yuilnk kingdoms gained their wealth, and thus their prominence and their power, largely from trade. Ethernian and Ethain trade heading east and Kolaskyvan trade heading west would find themselves trafficking through the port cities of Legan, including the ports farther east such as fabled Aglkuth. Here they would be taxed and handled, thus enriching the local cities and the regions as a whole.
Even in the modern day several of the coastal cities within the Yuilnk region serve well as trade ports, helping to connect Legan to the global economy.
