Although relatively a small part of Jotunheims Ecology, the Terror Birds are so incredibly diverse, often having multiple species within the same enviroment, that they must be broken into four groups.
Axe Beaks
The most diverse of all Terror Birds, they are famous for their horn like protrusion that makes their beak resemble an “axe”. They are so diverse in fact, that it is very hard to generalize them without excluding one or more of them, so it is widely agreed that anything with an Axe Shaped beak goes into this category.
Fang Beaks
Terror Birds identified by their serrated “fanged” beaks, these Terror Birds usually stand out as the most aggressive and Ill tempered of birds. It is widely debated whether their beaks evolved this way separately, or if they are a more primitive type of Terror Bird, bridging the gap between the shift of teeth to beaks.
Hard Beaks
Characterized by their abnormally tough beaks, these Terror Birds possess highly specialized beaks, often for the express purpose of cracking open shells, bones or nuts. Like many Axe Beaks, these Terror Birds often use their beaks to bash, as opposed to stab or tear, although they are more renowned for their calmer temperaments.
Sharp Beaks
Terror Birds that are distinguished by their pointed beaks, they use them to pierce like daggers, often choosing to bleed their prey. And while not nearly as diverse as the other groups, they are often the most feared of their species, as while not as aggressive as Fangs, their intelligence often rivals even that of other species outside of the Terror Bird family.
