The Old Ways
The older traditional ways of Gnolls that centred on strength, power, blood rites and sacrifices. It was the way of the raiding pillaging Gnolls of the mainland, linked to Demon worship, and the belief that such acts would make individual Gnolls, and the tribe as a whole, far stronger. In Chult, the settlement of Crudmere was built under a different way, living as hunter-gatherers in unity with their lands, leaving behind the old customs.
The Old Ways had a resurgence, as a reaction to the Death Curse several Gnolls turned back to these beliefs to gain strength against this threat, and under the leadership of Rega, they overthrew the more reserved and peaceful chieftain, .
The old ways are linked with the creation of very powerful Gnoll warriors, but also the unnatural and demonic Witherlings, undead Gnolls that require no food or rest.
