Dryabera (dry-a-bur-ah)

Dryabera or Dryad Bears are large carnivorous animals that roam the forests of Albatanica. They're the largest carnivorous land animal discovered on the planet standing a terrifying ten feet tall, when they rear up on their hind legs. These creatures resemble the bears of old terra but with longer muzzles and more pointed ears. What these creatures are most famed for is their distinctive coats. Dryabera have a unique symbiotic relationship with Beramos, a type of moss that grows in the caves the animals use for hibernation. During hibernation this moss grows all over the animal's coat, helping to insulate them against the harsh winters of Albatanica. In addition, this moss provides unparalleled camouflage for the animal, reports have circulated of prey animals attempting to graze on Dryaberas waiting in ambush. These are the apex predators of Albatanica, though locals still persist that the mythical Holtwudus are the true apex predators of Albatanica. No member of the Divisio Biologis has been able to confirm these creatures existence.
