Manto

Manto is the daughter of the seer Tiresias. After the revelers of the Dionysian cult blocked all traffic from Ormos to Rabdos and rioted in the streets of the port town, soldiers of the king crushed the revelers, and King Pentheus declared that he would sacrifice a virgin to their patron goddess, Demeter, to restore order. Human sacrifice is not a regular practice among the Kadmeians, though it is not entirely unheard of. At the present, it is not clear if the sacrifice has taken place.
