Aelsynda's sword

This is a slim shortword of an unusual silvered steel, that bears markings in the language of the Elves that read either "Lightning" or "Daylight" depending on inflection.   When Lady Keydis first drew the sword in battle against Trollkin she instinctively knew she could choose to wield it as Daylight or as Lightning- the former being a protective influence, the latter being a destructive power. She chose the latter and slew many Trollkin and Trollspawn.   It was created by Aelsynda for her battles against the Trolls and she not only forged it herself but she wove poetic charms into it that gave it great potency against creatures of darkness.   When Aelsynda fell in battle her sword was preserved as an honoured heirloom by her grief-stricken lover Erikol, Wolf of the North in the armoury of his fortress Erikol's Crag   It was recovered from her tomb in 1050 by Adriel of House Genlith, with the seeming-approval of Aelsynda's spirit and he carried it, unused, until early in 1051 when he passed it to Lady Keydis of House Tyaldi. Lady Keydis carried the sword into the vaults beneath Cardun and used it against the Trollkin there and to destroy the Trolls Heart that was being used to wake the slumbering monster beneath the citadel.

The wielder gains a +2 bonus to any rolls to confront or harm these creatures using the sword. Moreover the sword inflicts one extra point of harm on a successful strike.   As Daylight The light of the sword inspires the allies of the wearer and is discomforting to the creatures of darkness that it was created to oppose. It provides protection from harm. Each ally gains a single boon that can be expended to avoid one point of harm from any trollish source.
