A fortress of Raendor
The vulnerablility of Raendor has been shown up during the Stone War and plans for the creation of a protective fortress against Genlith had been drawn up.
A number of small watchtowers and fortresses were constructed but it was not until centuries more had passed and the Deeper Darkness was over that the greatest citadel of the borders began construction
The fortress of Cardun commenced construction in 853 and took over twenty five years to complete. Since then it has been expanded upon and strengthened many times, becoming a major garrison and bulwark against Genlith incursions.
The fortifications crumbled and cracked due to the effects of the Westing Wyrm called by the dwarf Bildelderikal during the opening weeks of the war between Raendor  and Genlith in 1051.
